In the Yarra Ranges Star News Group publish the Mail Newspaper Group titles while on the NSW/VIC border the Albury Wodonga News Weekly.

Star News Group has recently  announced its purchase of the Noosa Today publication in Queensland, which circulates to 24,000 homes from Noosa Heads in the North to Coolum Beach in the South and Cooroy in the West.

Earlier in 2013 Star News Group purchased the Armidale Independent, Tweed Coast Weekly, Port Macquarie Independent in New South Wales and Southern Free Times in Warwick Queensland creating a three State network of 26 community newspapers with a combined circulation of more than 554,900 copies per week.

In late 2013 Star News Group strengthened its position in the south east of Melbourne, acquiring the iconic 148 year old Dandenong Journal.  The companies Star Greater Dandenong publication has been merged into the Dandenong Journal, creating an even stronger regional publication with a proud history and wide support of both readers and local business.

In March 2014 Star News Group and Metro Media Publishing announced a joint business in Melbourne’s West and Northern Suburbs.  The new company, jointly owned by Star and MMP will publish six titles under the new masthead Star Weekly, which combines the publishers’ two current mastheads under a new Star Weekly banner in a tabloid format.

The new titles will be known as the:

• Wyndham Star Weekly
• Hobsons Bay & Maribyrnong Star Weekly
• Northern Star Weekly
• Melton & Moorabool Star Weekly
• Sunbury & Macedon Ranges Star Weekly
• Brimbank & North West Star Weekly

A unified Star and MMP classified call centre, entitled Network Classifieds  has also been  established to serve  the new Star Weekly Newspapers in the West, Star’s publications in the south east, Geelong and Interstate editions; MMP’s the Weekly Review publications in Central Melbourne and the Mail Newspaper group publications in the outer east.

These changes will be effective from early May 2014 and are designed to strengthen Star News Groups publishing position and give a complete Melbourne wide offering to our advertisers.
