Operations: Star News Group is a family owned news and information company based in Pakenham, Victoria, Australia with offices at Geelong, Tullamarine, Berwick and Kilmore. In addition Star News Group is involved and manages the Mail Newspaper Group with offices in Healesville, Yarra Junction and Mount Evelyn.

Newspapers: Star News Group is the largest independent family owned Newspaper Company operating in Melbourne and Geelong region. The company's 23 community newspapers have a combined circulation of more than 450,000 copies per week. The company has many specialist real estate newspapers with a circulation of more than 450,000 free delivered across Melbourne. In addition Star News Group produces a number of niche education titles and business magazines. Star News Group also manages and owns 50% of the Mail Newspaper Group, a community newspaper group of four mastheads based in the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges. This group has offices in Healesville and Mount Evelyn, Victoria and also produces a quarterly tourist publication.

Printing: Star News Group publications are mainly printed at Border Mail Printing (BMP) in Wodonga, Victoria. The press is a Goss Uniliner S web press. The company's publications are distributed by Fermax, a related company.

History: Star News Group was founded by Albert Edward Thomas in 1909 as the Berwick Shire News and Pakenham and Cranbourne Gazette. Star News Group is still owned by the Thomas family and the company is managed by Paul Thomas, a fourth generation family member. The company changed its name to Star News Group in August 2005 to reflect the growth of the company and the diversity of regions that the company covers. There are over 160 people employed directly by Star News Group.
