CAROLINE Syme, right, is keen to see a return to traditional romance – and lots of red roses – this Valentine’s Day.
The Lawrence Jordan Flowers manager and function co-ordinator doesn’t get a chance to spend the day with her loved one because she’s too busy helping men achieve the perfect Valentine’s bouquet for their loved ones. “It’s all about the rose,” she said. “We have seen many changes over the years, but one thing is for certain and that is the red rose remains the most popular way to express your love on Valentine’s Day.”
Ms Syme said tropical bouquets including heliconias and anthuriums were also winning combinations at the Seddon floristry.
And it seems, it’s not only men doing the buying, with Ms Syme estimating about 15 per cent of Valentine’s Day sales were women buying flowers for their special someone.
Ms Syme said flowers, chocolates and a romantic dinner was the best way to woo a Valentine.
“The perfect Valentine’s Day should be one filled with kind, thoughtful and loving words,” she said. 42458
