SIXTY-NINE new doctors have joined Southern Health sites in Melbourne’s south-east, including the Dandenong Hospital.

The interns will be stationed at Dandenong Hospital, Monash Medical Centre Clayton, Casey Hospital, Kingston Centre and rural sites.

They will spend time at each hospital to ensure they gain a wide range of experience and knowledge.

Southern Health chief operating officer Siva Sivarajah said he was looking forward to the new recruits starting over the next two weeks.

“On behalf of Southern Health, I welcome the 69 interns starting their medical career with us. After attending an extensive orientation program, they will take up positions in the medical teams across our sites,” Mr Sivarajah said.

“Southern Health plays a major part in the training and professional development of junior medical staff in Victoria. Our Medical Workforce Unit, Medical Education Unit and medical staff are committed to excellence in the education, training and support services they provide,” he said.
