UPCOMING local sports stars are invited to rub shoulders with their heroes at the official opening of the much awaited Bunyip Auditorium this month.

Councillor Bill Pearson said the building; the first new council built building in Bunyip for more than 20 years, was a magnificent addition to the town.

“It’s just a beautiful building,” he said. “Its wonderful to be able to have something like this in Bunyip.”

Bunyip Primary School captains Olivia and Zack said they were looking forward to using the new complex. “We will be using it for school concerts and interschool sports,” Olivia said. “I’m pretty excited and looking forward to the challenges.”

The opening of the auditorium will be held from 10am to 1pm on Sunday 21 February named ‘Heroes Day’ thanks to the many sporting stars expected to make an appearance.

Australian basketballers, soccer players, netballers and AFL players past and present will help celebrate the day and hold training sessions for people who want to give their sports a go.

But the celebrations don’t stop there – country music star Bec Hance will belt out a tune or two alongside the Cardinia Concert Band. So put the date in your diary, and head down to the Bunyip Auditorium, near the sports oval on Nar Nar Goon/ Longwarry Road, on Sunday 21 February from 10am.
