Bunyip’s Janet Onley has made her way to the big smoke in USA.

TWENTY-year-old Bunyip woman, Janet Onley has been fortunate to secure a much coveted employment opportunity in America.

Janet who completed her studies at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Tynong in 2007 has worked in the hospitality industry after completing her Bachelor of Business in International Hotel and Resort Management Course at the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School in NSW.

The position is an internship for 12 months at the world renowned J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington D.C.

Janet saw this position advertised on the NSW training school web site and applied through the school. She saw this as an opportunity to expand her expertise in this field. A telephone interview was conducted with the Marriott Hotel Management and she was thrilled when an email arrived a few days later advising her that her application was successful.

In her first week she will be staying at the hotel and then will join some of the other interns who have come from other parts of the world in rental accommodation in Washington.

“It will be great making friends with others in this field from different countries,” said Janet.

During her 12 month stint Janet will work in different roles which will include front desk, night audit, guest services and agent and supervisor development.

Janet said that she would miss her family and friends while away.

She left for Washington last Saturday.
