Mantas make waves

MARIBYRNONG Swimmers produced some good results at the recent state championships held at MSAC.

Natalie Roberts brought home gold for the Mantas in the 15-year-old 200-metre breast stroke and for good measure finished second in the 100-metre breast stroke and third in the 400-metre individual medley (IM).

Maryanne Camenzuli won silver in the 15-year-old 200-metre breast stroke and Nathan Smith won gold in the 13-year-old butterfly, silver in the 200-metre butterfly and bronze in the 400-metre freestyle and 200-metre IM.

Andrew Roberts also made it to the finals in the fiercely competitive 17-18-year-old section.

In other club news, five Mantas swimmers (Emily Camenzuli, Emma Handley, Jesse May, Daniel Nguyen and Emily Yang) put in a total of 35 appearances at the Victorian 12 and Under Championships.

Camenzuli picked up gold in the girls’ 12 years 200-metre butterfly, silver in the girls’ 12 and under 400-metre freestyle and a bronze in the girls’ 12 years 200-metre individual medley.

She went on to appear in three more finals. Handley appeared in four finals, Yang in three and May in one.
