Community fires up for ball

Darren Adams and district nurse Jenny Williams prepare for a bit of red tanker silliness as colleagues Susie Radke, Ruth Herdman and George Trumble look on.

HEALESVILLE CFA volunteer Darren Adams was swept off his feet last week as members of Healesville District Nursing Service got together to promote their Red Tanker Ball.

The women have organised the ball as a fundraiser for Healesville CFA and as a fun-raiser for the Healesville community.

“The main aim is to get the community together before the fire season starts in earnest,” said HDNS member Ruth Herdman.

“Psychologists are telling us that between six and 12 months many people (affected by the bushfires) hit the wall so what we want to do is get everyone together for a dance and a bit of silliness before the hot season really kicks in.”

Covers band ‘Off The Record’ will provide the music and there will be lucky door prizes and raffles throughout the evening. The Red Tanker Ball is on Saturday, 7 November and the dress theme is fire-engine red. Tickets are available from Healesville Jewellers or phone 0413 721 988.
