Fishing charge

TWO Braybrook men will be charged on summons after Fisheries Victoria officers caught them allegedly using a large, illegal fishing net in the Werribee River.

Officers seized 17 breeding-size bream, a net and a small inflatable raft following a surveillance operation last week after receiving a tip.

It has been alleged the two men, aged 20 and 28, set the 25-metre net in the river at K Rd.

Acting Operations manager Dane Robinson stressed that the use of commercial fishing equipment in inland waters was illegal.
