A HELMET prevented a work accident from being a more serious situation at Cranbourne last week, paramedics said.

A 21-year-old was struck on the head while he worked as a tree lopper last Wednesday.

Advanced life support paramedic Jacqui Simon said the branch cracked the man’s helmet.

“He was knocked to the ground and was briefly unconscious,” Ms Simon said.

The man had some neck pain and had trouble remembering what happened, she said.

“The fact he was wearing a helmet has certainly reduced the severity of his injuries.”

The man was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition and released that day.
