SEVERAL artefacts that were more than 150 years old were stolen from a Williamstown church recently and police have been seeking public assistance to locate them.

On Sunday, 5 July, a number of religious items and audiovisual equipment were stolen from Holy Trinity Anglican Church when the church was open to the public for prayer between 1pm and 5pm.

When a parishioner went to the church to lock up she discovered items including a brass crucifix, several brass vases, an offering plate, a lectern, an amplifier and a digital projector had been stolen.

An historic brass bell that had been donated to the church by the Navy was also stolen.

Some items were more than 150 years old and were of great value to the church.

Anyone with information about the theft can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
