Ferntree Gully IGA and Liquor store owners, family and staff, Luke, Linda and Annie Moore, John Moore, Stephen Sharp, Tim Dixon, Marius Fuchs and Johnny Wong are ready to celebrate the opening of the new store next week.

THE Moore family has operated a supermarket in Ferntree Gully Village for more than 24 years.

After the expiry of the lease on the old premises, the family has been able to purchase the freehold for a new supermarket site in Station Street, and bring the IGA brand to Ferntree Gully.

The site at 107 Station Street has been converted back to its original purpose as it operated up until the late ‘70s as a supermarket before being used as a secondhand shop and auction rooms.

The supermarket operated under the names of Permewans, Moran and Cato and The Giant.

As a secondhand shop, the site had been Steptoe’s, Ace Auctions and then 21st Century Auctions.

John and Luke Moore and their staff are excited to be opening a brand new IGA store, and look forward to welcoming back all their old customers, and meeting new ones. Part of the IGA offer is the Community Chest Program where one cent from every dollar spent in store is passed back to community groups.

Local groups interested in signing up for the program are invited to contact Luke at the store on 9758 1765.

Ferntree Gully IGA and Liquor is open for business on Wednesday 8 July at 3-4, 107 Station Street in Ferntree Gully.
