Hundreds flock to sunset screening

Enjoying their evening at the Tooradin Sunset Cinema are Robyn Disher andher grandson Brock.

HUNDREDS of people watched the sun set on Australia Day at the 6th Tooradin Sunset Cinema.

Branch co-ordinator of the Balla Balla Lions Club Peter Martin said more than 400 people brought their chairs and rugs to watch the movie ‘Nim’s Island’.

“It was a great night. There was a good crowd there throughout the night.”

Children enjoyed face-painting, fairy floss and a free sausage sizzle.

Mr Martin said the Tooradin Sunset Cinema, one of the only night-time events on Australia Day in Casey, was a great way for families to see out the remainder of the public holiday.

“It’s about getting people out for Australia Day and getting the family together and celebrating.”

Casey councillors Daniel Mulino and Kevin Bradford accepted the Australian flag from the Cranbourne squadron of the Australian Air League, while local identity Lady Uppity Crust and a singing duo provided entertainment for the crowd.
