POLICE are appealing for the owner of a diamond ring to come forward and claim it.

An honest bypasser found the ring at Dandenong market last week.

The gold band, with a diamond and red stone cluster, was handed in at Altona North Police Station on Wednesday, 9 May.

Altona North Police property manager Vanessa Baggio said the ring appeared to belong to an older woman.

She said that it had a more traditional “chunky” appearance.

Ms Baggio said an honest person had handed the ring in at Altona North after having shopped at the Dandenong market that week.

But Ms Baggio said that it would be better if people handed in lost items at the police station in the suburb where they were found.

When Ms Baggio contacted Dandenong police she was told they had received a call asking about a lost ring.

But at the time officers were unaware of the ring at Altona North.

Ms Baggio said it was uncommon for lost rings to end up at police stations.

Wallets, bank cards and even bikes were among the most common items lost.

To claim the ring contact Ms Baggio on 9392 3248.

POLICE are investigating a bashing at the Hallam Hotel on Sunday morning that left a Hallam man with facial injuries.

The serious assault on the 30-year-old took place at the Princes Highway pub about 1am and involved up to six people. The victim required medical attention.

A Noble Park man, 23, and a Springvale woman, 22, have been charged with intentionally causing injury and riotous behaviour.

Both will face the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 30 August.

Police are continuing to investigate the assault and want anyone with information to contact Narre Warren Police on 9705 3111.
