A caring lift for parents

YOUNG mums and dads throughout Greater Dandenong had the opportunity to discover helpful children’s services and meet other parents in similar parental situations last week.

Dandenong’s Visy Cares, in conjunction with GE Plastics, hosted the family day on Wednesday, 10 May to assist young Greater Dandenong parents who felt they need a hand with their newfound responsibilities.

Visy Cares intake and referral worker Jacqui Tonkins said the day became a two-fold event with not only information on Visy Cares’ services on offer, but the chance emerging for parents to meet other parents.

“It gave the chance for young parents who are isolated to learn more about the services available and a chance for them to meet other young parents in similar circumstances,” she said.

“The highlight was definitely seeing young parents all mingling.”
