HOBSONS Bay City Council is calling for expressions of interest for the 2011 Art in Public Places program.
The council will be holding an information session on 9 September and is encouraging all interested artists from Melbourne’s West to attend.
Now in its eighth year, the Art in Public Places program will exhibit the artwork of western region artists in businesses and venues across the Hobsons Bay area between 7 March and 17 April 2011.
The mayor of Hobsons Bay Bill Tehan said the Art in Public Places program was an excellent initiative that continues to showcase talented western region artists.
“The project aims to build stronger communities by linking local traders and promoting local artists, and to increase public access to local art and cultural activities.”
“We are very fortunate to have some very talented artists in the western region of Melbourne and this is an innovative way to exhibit their great work in our local community,” said Cr Tehan.
Cr Tehan urges those artists who will consider participating in the program next year to attend the information session first.
“I strongly encourage any emerging or established artists and cultural groups to make the most of this opportunity and attend the information session,” said the mayor.
The artist information session will be held on Thursday 9 September at 6.30pm at The Substation in Newport.
