POLICE have upped the ante in their investigation into an Altona North shooting that happened in July.

On 31 July police believe a Holden Commodore sedan travelling near the corner of Millers Rd and Blackshaws Rd had multiple shots fired from it at a car parked in the car park of a McDonald’s restaurant.

The car was damaged, but the occupants escaped injury.

Police have released an image of a Holden sedan similar to the one they believe was involved in the incident and a picture of a man they think could help with the investigation.

The shooting came only a month after Mohammed Haddara, 28, was shot dead in a drive-by shooting on Fifth Ave in Altona North on 20 June this year.

A 21-year-old Werribee man, Mohammad Haddara, who was related to the deceased, faced the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court a fortnight ago charged with making three threats to kill on 20 June.

Police said the incident was separate from the shooting, and occurred in the Newport-Spotswood area in relation to a 20-year-old female and others. He was released on bail and will reappear at the court in March next year for a hearing.

Police said investigations were ongoing. Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au with information.
