Drive has tree all wrapped up

A MINIATURE tree has been rugged up with about 120 miniature scarves thanks to VCE students’ drive to protect the environment. Mount St Joseph Girls’ Secondary College students, including Ruby, Andrea, Leah and Danielle, pictured, have knitted scarves of varying sizes to cover the trunk and branches of a tree. The students got involved in the Twig Knitters Project as part of their art textile studies and thought the project was a way to make a statement about deforestation. Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre general manager Jill Bilston said many of the girls involved also learnt to knit through the process. The miniature tree will be displayed in the foyer of the Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre for about a month. 36333 Picture: PAUL JEFFERS
