AUSTRALIAN band The Black Sorrows will headline this year’s Hobsons Bay Summer Sounds concert, which will start on 18 January.
Summer Sounds is a free concert series organised by Hobsons Bay City Council and features bands playing in various locations around the municipality.
The Black Sorrows, featuring Joe Camilleri, will kick start the event on 18 January at Logan Reserve in Altona at 3pm.
More concerts will follow on 25 January, 1 February, and 8 February, featuring The Mercurials, Carino Sun, and Mick Thomas and the Sure Thing, respectively.
Hobsons Bay mayor Peter Hemphill said the concerts provided the opportunity for residents to come together and enjoy free music.
“Many of the musicians playing at the concerts are local,” he said.
“It is important that we appreciate their talent and give local musicians a chance to play their music in their own community.
“Events like these really help create a sense of community spirit, so bring your friends and family, pack a picnic and come and listen to some great music.”
