Touch … Altona’s Tim Collins displays some fine form against Broadmeadows.

ALTONA won a highly entertaining tussle over Broadmeadows on the first innings, making 127 in reply to Broadmeadows’ 111 in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association South/West competition.

Broadbent (42) was the best-performed batsman for Altona as the visitors grabbed victory before Broadmeadows batted for a second time.

The best of the Broadmeadows bowlers were Geoff Turner (4/42) and Eric Ruuska (3/40).

In Broadmeadows’ second innings, William Partington-Gardner (28) and Wayne Wunmym (27 not out) made some valuable runs as the team reached 6/109, while Darren Ward took 4/20 for Altona.

In other games, an unbeaten 106 from Williamstown batsman Craig Sheedy was the catalyst in his side’s victory over the Kingston Saints at Walter Galt Reserve.

Williamstown was in cruise mode after passing home side’s total of 159, making 5/246.

Werribee, scoring 146 and 5/210, fell well short against Yarraville’s 4/278 at Chirnside Park.

Only David Buchanan (38) provided any resistance for the home side against a fired-up Yarraville bowling attack.

At Dempster Park, Sunshine won the battle of the wooden spoon against Ormond, making 6/262 in reply to Ormond’s 9/205 declared.

Daniel Eastley carved up Ormond’s bowlers with a fine innings of 77, while Troy Stone (52) chipped in with a valuable half-century to put the icing on the cake for Sunshine’s first win of the season.
