MORE than traffic 1600 traffic offences, including drink-driving and speeding, were detected by police across a massive four day operation within Wyndham recently.

From August 19 to 22, police discovered 48 drink driving offences, 327 speeding offences, 329 defective vehicles, 135 mobile phone offences and 107 seatbelt offences within the area.

They also detected 47 separate instances of motorists disobeying signs and signals, 49 unlicensed drivers and 19 disqualified drivers.

Five vehicles were impounded under the state’s anti-hoon laws and $75,000 of outstanding warrants were issued during the weekend operation.

One man was caught driving 135 kilometres per hour in an 80km/h zone on Palmers Rd, Truganina.

Another man had his car impounded after he was caught doing a burnout on Old Geelong Rd in Hoppers Crossing.
