PRESIDENTS Park will be given a $1.8 million facelift in an attempt to restore it to some of its former glory.

The majority of the works will be dedicated to the hockey and softball pavilion which will receive new change rooms, more storage space and a first aid room and kitchen.

The park’s softball diamonds will also be fitted with fences while public benches will be installed within the hockey compound. Perhaps the most drastic changes will occur to the now disused mini-hockey pitch. The pitch will be redeveloped and will have a new multi-purpose synthetic pitch installed.

Wyndham mayor Heather Marcus said the park was important for the local community.

“The City views Presidents Park as a valuable facility for the community and encourages all residents to enjoy the facilities,” she said. Work on the park is expected to begin in October.
