SHE’S no ‘runaway bride’ … but Alana Rosso will be running on her wedding day for Wyndham’s Relay for Life.

She didn’t realise she had booked her wedding the same day as the race, which she has been involved in for many years.

Ms Rosso, soon to be Mrs Ryan, will make her way with her new husband, the bridal party, family and friends in tow, down to Victoria University’s athletic track in Hoppers Lane after the ceremony.

“We will be doing a lap or two in honour of my dad and in honour of all the family members that we have lost to cancer,” she said.

Her dad had pancreatic cancer and passed away at the age of 47.

“He taught me to always show a fighting spirit and to have courage. He always put his family first and he is the most courageous person I will ever know,” she said.

Ms Rosso also lost her two grandfathers and her uncle to cancer in recent years.

Her team The Randoms has been taking part for five years, and last year managed to raise more than $6000 with a team of 25.

The 24-hour event requires at least one person to be on the track at all times, to show there is no rest from cancer.

They have run a shopping tour, a high teas event and Ms Rosso is asking for a small donation rather than presents at her wedding.

The Wyndham event will take place on 27 March and anyone wanting to donate or register a team can call 9635 5000.
