Grand plan … The concept plan for the Riverbend Precinct.

THE Riverbend Precinct has been unveiled as a multi-storey retail and residential complex.

A design to test the economic viability for the development in the Werribee City Centre was revealed last week.

The site was planned as having at least three levels with a mixture of retail, restaurant and commercial shops at ground level, residential apartments and a multi-storey car park.

Councillor Glenn Goodfellow said the project would rejuvenate an undeveloped part of the town centre.

The site currently has a public car park with 230 spots.

It was recommended to relocate the spaces to the council-owned Ballan House car park site at the corner of Duncans Rd and Synnot St.

Councillor Shane Bourke said this was a vital investment for the municipality.

“Developers invest so much money into housing estates but I would also like them to start pumping money into areas like the CBD,” he said.
