A 30-YEAR-OLD man was shot in the leg after being attacked walking down a residential street in Werribee.

The violent assault occurred in Cassowary Ave just before midnight on 26 February.

Police believe the victim was with friends when the attacker pulled out a firearm.

He was rushed to hospital to undergo surgery.

A 44-year-old male from Werribee was arrested on 27 February.

He was charged with conduct endangering life, potentially causing serious injury, assault and firearm offences.

The man was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 24 May.
