Gorgeous girl … Hoppers Crossing teen Meg Doyle was the winner of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Sidewalk model search.

SCHOOLGIRL Meg Doyle has gone from the classroom to fashion parade stardom.

The sixteen-year-old from Hoppers Crossing was the winner of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Sidewalk model search last week.

The lanky teen, who has never modelled before entering the competition outshone 1000 hopefuls.

“The girls were so gorgeous, I didn’t think I would stand a chance,” she said.

“The majority of them had modelling experience and brought their portfolio along and here I am in my jeans thinking I have no chance.” She won a Vivien’s Models Management portfolio and will strut her stuff at a sidewalk show at Federation Square between 14-21 March.

Meg said her aunty encouraged her to apply.

Tentatively she submitted some “average” pictures as she normally tries to avoid being photographed.

A few days later her modelling career was launched.

She posed for a photo shoot at Federation Square wearing top labels including Kookai, Forever New and Review.

Meg said she was a fan of the designers for Cue.

“Unfortunately I’m on a student’s budget so it’s out of my price range so it will be exciting to wear them,” she said.

But she said the week had been daunting at times and she had to practise her walk in her backyard.

Meg’s last task was a 10-minute interview with the judges.

“I had to talk about the down sides of the fashion industry,” she said.

“There is controversy surrounding weight issues and the fashion industry falls under scrutiny because of that.”

The self-proclaimed ‘girlie’ girl said the competition would open up many doors.
