ANOTHER two centimetres of long wavy hair will mean big bucks for charity.

Lyn Shepherd is shaving her head for the World’s Greatest Shave on Friday 12th March.

And if her ponytail hair reaches 30cms before the shave, she will also sell the ponytail for more donations.

Ms Shepherd said the shave is a good way to raise some money and have a bit of fun.

“I thought it was time for a change, so why not go the whole hog and raise the cash for a good cause while I’m at it,” she said. “It’s thick and wavy so I’m probably gonna love having no hair.”

Ms Shepherd’s 25-year-old niece was diagnosed with lymphoma last year and she’s just gone into remission.

“I haven’t told her yet (about the shave), she’d probably just call me crazy like everybody else has,” she said.

The Werribee resident works in an aged-care home where one of her colleagues shaves his head every year for the cause.

“I told him he needs some competition, but he doesn’t believe I’ll do it,” she said.

The care home is going to organise some entertainment for the residents and “make a day of it, so I’ll be the finale with my shaven head,” Ms Shepherd laughed.
