All events at the meet were 50 metres, making for a mad dash to get onto the podium in every event.
Karlene Pircher from Hoppers Crossing Swimming Club won gold in the women’s 12 year old final with a time of 35.42 seconds, which was her personal best and was the best on record for a 12 year old at the event.
Karlene also took out bronze in the 12 year old backstroke (33.76 seconds), before just missing a medal in the butterfly for her age group, despite recording a personal best time (32.70 secs).

Vasta’s teammate Madelyne Scott also put in some brave performances at the meet, finishing eighth in the 11 and under freestyle event and finished sixth in the butterfly event, less than a second off Stickland’s second placing.
