UNDERCOVER and uniform police have swooped on the Werribee railway line in a bid to tackle a rise in car thefts.

Members from the Werribee Police and the Transit Safety Division will target theft from and theft of motor vehicles over the next few months as part of Operation Medusa.

Transit Safety Division Senior Constable Luke Bristow said there was an increase in vehicle crime at the Werribee, Laverton and Hoppers Crossing stations.
