WYNDHAM City Council has called on residents to help shine the spotlight on the best and brightest local citizens.

The Citizen of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year awards suggestions are being sought over this month.

Mayor Shane Bourke said the honours recognised those who have contributed towards the betterment and enhancement of the community.

The Citizen of the Year Award is the most prestigious award in Wyndham while The Young Achiever Award is open to residents aged between 12-25 years.

“The award recognises that Wyndham is a community of high achievers and that young people demonstrate huge potential and make contributions to personal and community development,” Cr Bourke said.

Previous winners of the Chirnside Award and the Mayoral Youth Award are being considered.

The awards will be presented by the mayor at a function on 26 January.
