WYNDHAM super fish are being asked to make a big splash next week.
Fundraisers will take place across Victoria to help Royal Life Saving reduce drowning, fund local projects and raise prevention awareness.
The Werribee Olympic Outdoor Swimming Pool will host a BigSplash Swimathon to collect money to help children swim and survive. Figures show in the past year more than 50 children lost their lives to drowning.
Royal Life Saving’s chief execuitve Rob Bradley is urging the community to support the cause. “It’s all about saving children’s lives,” he said. “A big part of our target is children who live in at risk communities, which include rural and remote communities, indigenous communities and other areas. We’ll be providing scholarships to people so they can become swimming and safety instructors.”
The swimathon is being held on 6 December from 10am to 1pm at the Werribee Olympic Outdoor Swimming Pool. Inquiries phone 8742 8307.
