MORE than 40 infringement notices were handed to commercial vehicle drivers last week in Wyndham when police conducted Operation Shared Approach.

The crackdown saw Werribee Police and VicRoads ensure heavy commercial traffic such as trucks and buses followed the road rules.

It was fuelled by the rise in heavy vehicle activity and accidents.

An officer from the sheriff’s department also checked for any outstanding warrants.

Senior Constable Graeme Crouch said over the two day operation 41 infringements were penned.

There were 11 defect notices, four load restraint tickets, four unregistered vehicles and four without seatbelt fines issued on Wednesday.

A vehicle was clocked travelling at 110 kilometres per hour in a 80km/h zone on Dohertys Rd and one driver was fined for no P Plates.

A B-double truck driver was caught drink driving on Thursday.

The 24-year-old from Wahgunya recorded a reading of .086 when he was stopped in Fitzgerald Rd at 7pm.

There were seven netted for not wearing seatbelts, one load restraint and one overweight B double truck.

A driver was nabbed at 130km/h in a 90km/h zone on Dohertys Road.

Sen Const Crouch said more operations would be planned on a regular basis.
