THE legal team behind a proposed 24-hour brothel in Hoppers Crossing will continue their battle for the premises after Wyndham City Council refused the planning permit.

Councillors made a unanimous decision at a council meeting last Monday to reject plans for a six-room brothel inside the Old Geelong Rd industrial precinct.

The council report stated the application failed to meet the Wyndham Planning Scheme and the Prostitution Control Act.

The act states a brothel permit must be knocked back if the development is within 200 metres of a place of worship, hospital, school, kindergarten and children’s services centre.

A gym which conducts children’s activity classes twice a week operates about 152 metres from the site.

The applicant’s agent William Albon from NW Albon and Associates said the matter would now be fought at VCAT.

The brothel ‘Basic Instincts’ would operate seven days a week with between two and 14 sexual service providers on site at any one time.

VCAT refused an application for a strip club early this month to halt plans for another adult entertainment complex in the area.
