THE Neizvetsny family left war torn Israel for a no-worries Aussie lifestyle three years ago and yesterday became Australian citizens.

Roman and Irina, along with their two young sons, celebrated with a BBQ after the ceremony.

Mr Neizvetsny said they came to Australia in search of a better life for their children.

“Here there are no problems and no wars,” he said

“It’s an opportunity for our kids to live in a good country. Life here is very different, and its like everything is new.”

Ms Neizvetsny said adjusting to a new culture was a struggle.

“All our family is back in Israel which made things hard at first,” she said. We have finally started to settle down.”

Ms Neizvetsny has begun a career as a midwife at the Werribee Mercy Hospital and her husband works as a custody officer.

“One of the reasons we left was because of the long working hours,” she said.

“It was more stressful and you could not spend a lot of time with your kids.

“In Sanctuary Lakes we found there were many young families and the houses were not too expensive.”

Ms Neizvetsny said her children Daniel, 10, and Tal, 7, were excited about their new citizenship.

“It’s been a very historical time for us,” she said.
