YARRAVILLE Club star batsman Justin Baker is enjoying a summer sent from the gods just four rounds into the Victorian Turf Cricket Association season.
Baker, who is the October nominee for the Western Region Cricket Centre Player of the Year Award, cracked his third ton of the season on Saturday against Old Essendon Grammarians.
It took his season aggregate after five hits to a staggering 397 runs, with a booming average of 99.3.
Baker blasted 128 against Doutta Stars in the season opener, 101 against South Caulfield and 110 against Old Essendon on Saturday.
In between those innings he also struck 55 against Youlden Parkville.
For being last month’s nominee for the Western Region Cricket Centre Cricketer of the Year, Baker will receive four net sessions valued at $240 and a 20 per cent discount on anything at the centre, in Geelong Rd, Brooklyn.
Each week, Star will publish up to four players who have been the stand-out performers.
Each weekly nominee will receive two free net sessions.
All will then be in the running for the cricketer of the month, and the Cricketer of the Year will be selected from those winners.
If Baker continues his form, he may be a runaway winner.
The overall winner will win a signed bat from an international cricketer, five free net sessions and a 30 per cent discount on cricketer gear.
