SEVERAL disadvantaged Wyndham children were excited last week to receive a donation of $1900 from ISIS Primary Care that will enable them to go to a camp next month.
ISIS staff in Wyndham and Brimbank have been collecting money to donate to various causes.
In Wyndham, they chose the health and well-being group of the Heathdale Neighbourhood Association, which cares for many low-income families in the area.
Heathdale Neighbourhood Association spokeswoman Maggie McInnes said the money would be used to defray the expenses of the camp for some families.
“It will enable some families to go who perhaps would not have been able to,” she said.
“ISIS has done a marvellous job. The idea of the camp is to get families really communicating.
“With television and computer games, and the busy lives people lead these days, family communication is becoming more and more difficult.
“You need to make a determined effort to do something about it.
“This donation and the camp will give people in Heathdale an opportunity that perhaps they wouldn’t otherwise have.”
The camp will be held in the scenic country area of Benloch, Victoria, from Friday 23 November to Sunday 25 November.
Cabin accommodation, transport and all meals are included in the cost of $40 concession or $60 per adult, and $20 concession or $30 per child.
Events planned include archery, damper-making, canoeing and a treasure hunt.
