KEALBA-BASED club Gymnastics Unlimited has some promising little gymnasts in its ranks.
The club recently finished second at the recent Women’s Gymnastics State Pennant Finals, held at Donvale.
In a successful day for Brimbank, Kealba was pipped by neighbouring club Essendon/Keilor, which won the state competition in the women’s artistic gymnastics level 1 preparation category, coming first on the bars and beam, and second on the vault and floor.
Gymnastics Unlimited’s team, made up of 8 and 9 year old girls Taylor Sweeney, Reannon Vella, Meagan Petrov, Bethany Azzopardi and Madeline Yan, came first on the floor, second on the bars and beam, and fourth on the vault. The club was just 1.6 points behind Essendon/Keilor.
Essendon/Keilor also finished first in the level 3 preparation final.
Coach of the Gymnastic Unlimited side Alysha Montebello said she was very proud of her students.
“I’m ecstatic, It was a lot of hard work just to get through the qualifiers and the girls had an awesome day,” she said.
