WESTERN Region Football League board members will meet with club delegates tomorrow to discuss the league strategic plan, which proposes a three-tiered senior competition.

The league will seek approval from clubs to restructure the senior competition next year. If the plan is endorsed, the league would appoint a sub-committee to determine the make-up of senior divisions in next year’s competition.

The WRFL has proposed eight clubs to compete in the first and second division, and the remaining clubs to make up a third division.

The league is yet to determine which clubs would make up the third division. It would most likely consist of the four bottom division two sides and possibly new senior club Caroline Springs.

According to the strategic plan, the league plans to expand all divisions to 10 teams, with priority given to the first and second divisions.

The league also plans to address the unevenness of the junior competition by establishing a junior sub-committee, which among other things would be responsible for simplifying and rationalising junior fixtures and grading.

The strategic plan is divided into six key issues – Home of the WRFL, Reputation and Image, Umpire Recruitment and Retention, Player Retention and Growth, Club Development, and Evenness of the Competition.
