Council received 20 written submissions, including a suggestion to resurface three tennis courts at Taylors Lakes Reserve at a cost of $77,000.

There will also be two speed humps installed in Harricks Rd, Keilor for $35,000 and Brimbank police station’s Traffic Management Unit will receive $15,000 to go towards a motorcycle.

However, the motorcycle funds depend on Melton Shire Council matching Brimbank’s contribution.

The council has also devoted $43,000 for playground equipment throughout the municipality and $180,000 for environmental monitoring.

Other suggestions from residents included creating a safe crossing at the corner of Hampshire Rd and Chapman St in Sunshine, which council engineers will investigate.

A Cairnlea resident wanted the Sunshine Railway Station’s underpass updated because of graffiti, open drains and uneven floors.

The council said they would continue to advocate to the State Government to have the station re-designed.

Another idea, to consider placing signs around parks and reducing speed limits to 50km to improve safety for children, hailed from the Brimbank Cycle User Group.
