Crime in Brimbank on way down

CRIME statistics for the Brimbank police service area have dropped significantly since 2008, new police figures show.
Police statistics for the Brimbank PSA show crime against property fell by over 11 per cent during January to December last year, compared to the previous 12 months.
Thefts from motor vehicles dropped more than 23 per cent and thefts of motor vehicles fell by almost a third.
While residential burglaries rose by 10 per cent, other types of burglaries went down by 20 per cent.
Other areas which fell include property damage, robberies, assaults, drug offences and crimes against the person.
Overall, crime in the Brimbank area dropped by 8.3 per cent.
Road statistics also improved, from October 2008 to September 2009, compared to the previous 12 months.
Fatalities fell by almost a third and serious injuries by 12 per cent.
