POLICE officers used capsicum spray to subdue a man they chased through Derrimut last Sunday (7 March).

Senior Sergeant Fred Grove from the Sunshine Police Station said the man allegedly lost control of his car on Mt Derrimut Rd about 12.30am, and then fled the scene.

As the male ran away, another car collided with him and he sustained minor injuries.

Sen Sgt Grove said after numerous 000 calls from the public, a police dog tracked the man down in Boundary Rd.

Police deployed OC spray to bring the male under control.

Sen Sgt Grove said the man was treated by ambulance officers at the scene and taken to Footscray Hospital.

Sen Sgt Grove said the man would be “processed in respect to traffic issues” after undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
