SAMANTHA Dumesny shaved her blonde hair off for charity last week.

The ABC Burnside centre director sacrificed her tresses to raise money for the annual World’s Greatest Shave, a fund-raising event for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Ms Dumesny said one parent whose child attended the centre has just experienced their third bout of cancer and another ABC centre worker in the region had also fought the disease.

Ms Dumesny said the Burnside centre had always supported the cause, but this year she wanted to do more. Some of the older children at the centre watched as her hair was shaved off on Friday.

The Derrimut resident said she liked her new hairstyle. “It looks better than I thought it would,” she said. Ms Dumesny said the event raised about $1500.
