ON REMEMBRANCE Day last week, Bill Cullen was among representatives from the Sunshine RSL Club and other community members paid tribute to Australian men and women who have contributed to wars and armed conflicts throughout the nation’s history.
A large crowd gathered at the RSL on 11 November at 11am to attend the Remembrance Day service and to observe one minute’s silence.
Many veterans and their families placed wreaths on the club’s war memorial to honour those who have fallen in combat.
Several people in attendance wore their war medals and red poppies to symbolise support for Australian servicemen and women.
Members of the Sunshine RSL had been selling the poppies in the lead-up to Remembrance Day to raise funds for disadvantaged war veterans and their families.
