A MOTORCYCLIST was critically injured after being hit by a car in St Albans.

The 25-year-old motorcyclist from Sunbury had been riding his motorbike on the Western Ring Road on Saturday 6 June when he was clipped by a car just past the Sunshine Ave off ramp at 12.40am.

Intensive care paramedics from Deer Park were called to the scene.

Intensive care paramedic Mark Lamb said the first crew found the man lying unconscious on the grass in the middle of the freeway.

“The man’s motorbike was found 40 metres from where the accident happened,” he said.

“The 25-year-old man suffered a serious head injury, internal injuries and a fractured right arm.

“We were concerned about his head injury, so we put a drip in his arm, and gave him some drugs to place him into an induced coma.

“A breathing tube was inserted into his airway, and we were breathing for him.”

The man was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.
