THE third car accident in five days at Anthony’s Cutting near Melton has left a 53-year-old man with injuries.

Paramedics treated the man when his car overturned at Long Forest on Anthony’s Cutting on Wednesday 13 May.

The accident occurred around 1.30pm.

It is believed the car rolled several times before coming to rest against an embankment.

Advanced life-support paramedic David Hammond said the man managed to get out of the overturned vehicle before paramedics arrived.

“The man had some neck and back pain, and we were concerned about the potential for spinal injuries given the car had overturned,” he said.

“A neck brace was fitted to the man. He was placed onto a spine board and his head strapped to the board to reduce movement”

The man was given oxygen and transported to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Anthony’s Cutting is infamous as an accident hot spot, and this third accident in five days has renewed calls for upgrades to this section of road.
