Against the wall ... Sunshine’s Nathan Wallis found himself a little too close to the fence in his side’s final Division one match of the season. 44197
IT’S all over for Sunshine. The club finished off the 2009-10 Division One baseball season on a sour note going down to fellow cellar dweller Bonbeach 6-4 on Saturday.
The loss cemented what had long been decided – the Eagles will be relegated to Division Two for the 2010-11 season.
After a long season, with import pitcher Jason Benson leading a young and inexperienced line-up the Eagles finished bottom of the ladder with four wins from 33 games.
An injury to Benson late in the season played further havoc to the side’s structure but overall they did not have the cattle to compete in the top division.
As Benson said earlier this year, a season in the second division might prove beneficial for the developing players in the squad.
