TAI Chi, arts and craft and indoor bowls are among the activities on offer to help seniors keep fit and have fun.
Maribyrnong City Council is introducing a range of activities to get seniors out of the house and improve their health and wellbeing.
Braybrook Community Centre will be hosting free Tai Chi classes every Monday morning from 10.30am to11.30am from this week, while the Footscray Senior Citizens Centre will start progressive arts and crafts and indoor bowls sessions from 3 September. A music, cruise and barbecue event will take place at Pipemakers Park on 22 December.
“Research suggests staying active enriches people’s lifestyles. These activities will bring the community together so they can stay active and make new friends,” mayor Sel Sanli said.
