THE Rotary Club of Yarraville has appealed for volunteers to help raise money for cancer research.
Some members of the club will be participating in the Hobsons Bay Relay for Life at Altona on the weekend.
Other Rotary members will be staffing a barbecue at the event, with all the proceeds from the catering also going to cancer research.
The Relay for Life event will last for about 18 hours and will start at 4pm on Saturday at the Pines Scout Camp in Altona Rd.
The last time the event was held in November 2008, more than $38,000 was raised for cancer research, support and prevention programs.
As well as raising funds for cancer research, the Relay for Life aims to celebrate cancer survivors and remember people who died from the disease.
The Rotary Club of Yarraville has asked anyone who could walk as part of their relay team or help out with catering to contact Sandra on 0412 563 739.
People who want to sponsor the team can head to @victoria.relayforlife.org.au and get a tax-deductible receipt.
