IT’S time to get snap happy again as entries open for the annual Snapshots of Seddon competition.
Budding photographers and those with a keen eye are being encouraged to take the challenge to show off their favourite bits of Seddon through a lens.
Competition organiser Larissa MacFarlane said entrants did not have to live in Seddon, they just had to love it.
Two-time people’s choice award winner Travis Bigg is in the unenviable position of being a judge for the judges’ award and an entrant in this year’s people’s choice.
Mr Bigg, 30, will use the Charles St pedestrian crossing as a backdrop for this year’s photo.
It’s been a winning formula so far for the grip technician, who won the people’s choice award in 2006 with a photo of his girlfriend walking across Charles St naked. Last year again, it was the people’s choice for his photo of a friend sitting in an arm chair at the crossing, reading a paper.
Mr Bigg said his photos aimed to create “an extraordinary thing in an ordinary place”.
“I just wanted to put something that we’d all seen before with something that you’ve never seen before.”
He encouraged people gunning for the judge’s award to use their imagination.
“I’d like to see something I haven’t seen before. I’d like to see someone really step out of the mould,” he said.
The photos will be displayed in local shop windows from 18 February, with the winners announced at the Seddon Festival on 27 February.
There will be a judges’ award, people’s choice award and prize for kids under 14.
Details and entry forms are available from Le Chien Café, Gravy Train Café, Pompello and Cleanable. For more information call Larissa on 9687 3231.
