Community dinner ... Claudine Spinner and her daughters Paige, middle, and Ellie, right, being served up some delicious Indian food.

WEST Footscray Neighbourhood House (WFNH) is calling on residents to meet the neighbours next month in a community dinner that will help inject some money into local business.

WFNH is will be hosting the dinner on 1 April at Aangan Indian Restaurant on Barkly St. Tickets are $25 a head and include a three-course buffet dinner and dessert.

The restaurant is well renowned for its traditional curries and cheap prices and was this year named as one of the top five Melbourne hot spots in Epicure.

WFNH member Claudine Spinner said it was important for residents to band together in tough economic times like these.

“The main reason for hosting these dinners is to help bring the local community together but it also has the combined benefit of supporting our local businesses,” Ms Spinner said.

“Aangan’s outdoor area has a great atmosphere and we will be playing kids’ films and Bollywood clips throughout the evening.”

Aangan will donate 20 per cent of the night’s takings to West Footscray Neighbourhood House, where it will be re-invested into local projects.

Ms Spinner said the last community dinner at Thai Angels had raised more than $500, and was used to buy art supplies and a highchair for the WFNH kids section.

Bookings can be made through Aangan on 9689 4175. When booking, remember to put your name down for the community dinner.
