FOOTSCRAY Police are on the hunt for a man targeting Vietnamese migrants.
The man befriends families hoping to relocate their loved ones to Australia, promising to help them secure working visas.
Police said one elderly woman was robbed of around $13,000 entrusted to the con artist to bring her grandchildren to Melbourne.
It is believed the offender approaches migrant families offering work for overseas family members on farms in northern Victoria.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Brendan O’Mahoney from Footscray’s Crime Investigation Unit said the suspect was a Vietnamese male believed to be aged in his mid to late 50s.
“We believe the offender usually approaches elderly, Vietnamese people and offers services to find work in Australia for children, nieces and nephews and grandchildren,” he said.
Anyone with any information, or who has been approached by the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1300 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au
